I recently read an article in the Huffington Post by Lawyer, Dancer, Wit-Wielder & Writer, Tamara Shayne Kagel titled ‘How to Throw an Awesome Bachelorette Party’.

The article was a great read in itself, filled with interesting points & humorous facts, one of which stated “Being in your late 20s means that bachelorette parties are a regular part of your social calendar. The problem is, most bachelorette parties SUCK”. Having been to a few snoozers myself lately, I felt the urge to lend some help & found that this article provided the perfect wake up call.

Kagel mentions a few tips & considerations to help you plan a modern bachelorette party including:

1. Know Your Friend

2. Consider Expenses

3. Dont Make it About You

4. Involve All the Girls Attending in the Planning

Then, she also offers a few of her favorite suggestions for the Modern Bachelorette Par-tay!!! These include:

Wine Tasting – spend the day and the night in Niagara’s wine region

Food Crawl – rent a limo & do a food crawl of different courses at the best restaurants

Scavenger Hunt – involve people from the bride’s childhood such as teachers, coaches & friends’ parents & have the bride try to figure out clues taht lead her to all the people

Photo Shoot – dress up like Stepford Wives. Dress up like men. Have every girl bring a photo of herself & the bride to recreate the poses from days past

Defy Death – if she’s an adrenaline junkie, go sky diving

Competitive Games – try laser tag, go carts or organize a game of tag around town

If You All Grew Up Together – go on a tour of favorite old haunts. Go back to your high school & find her locker. Drive to the parking lot where the bride had her first kiss. Go back to the street you all used to play on.

Make Pottery – go to the shops where you bake clay pottery & then paint on it. Have every girl make something there & then give it to the bride.

Spa Day – Book treatments at the local spa

Make a Film – retell the story of your friendships by reenacting the day you met the bride. Or, have everyone go in a room by themselves a do a reality TV-type confessional & then watch them all together

Fashion Swap – take some & leave some, share your stuff with the girls @ the party & tell a story for each article your bring

Tea Party – a timeless tradition that is enjoyed by women of all ages

Slumber Party – what better way to spend your last night as a single woman than with all of your besties? Camp out in the best hotel suite that your city has to offer

A Weekend Away – take off & head out on a surprise weekend away, everyone knows the plans, except for the bride

What a cute way to begin your marriage… with a love list. Many married friends have dished that they too decided to create a list to prepare for all of the amazing things they’d like to do together in their first year of marriage. Many have said that when creating this list, they found that their to-do’s were activities that they’ve already done, but had a great part in strengthening their bond & developing their relationship.
