You’ve been chosen to be the best man… now what? You know that planning the bachelor party is one duty, but what else is expected of the best man at a wedding? Below are a few suggestions of duties, discuss with the couple which ones may be best for you.

Clothing Stylist – It is the best man’s job to attend suit trials with the groom & groomsmen, playing a role in the selection of what will be worn on the wedding day.

Cash Converter – Distribution of payments (to the officiant or musicians, for example) as well as attendance at the rehearsal, knowing groom’s details for the wedding day, are each the duty of the best man.

Stand By – During the ceremony, it is customary that the best man stand beside the groom at the alter, guarding the ring until the time calls.

Manage the Maid – The best man’s duty is to escort the maid of honour down the aisle, as well as inviting the mother’s of the bride & groom for a dance during the reception.

Say a Speech – The best man is often he who has known the groom the longest or who know’s the groom the best, therefore it is his responsibility to “wow” the crowd with a great speech about the new couple.

Class up the Car – The groom is responsible for decorating the vehicle that will carry the newly weds away from the reception.

Groom Attendant – Dressing. Driving. Witnessing… regardless of what the groom may need, it is the best man’s duty to ensure it is done.
